Gitlite
A version control system, from scratch
G
Overview
Gitlite reimplements the core mechanics of Git from first principles: a Merkle-tree-based object store, branching and merging logic, and commit history - all in raw C++. The goal was to understand version control at the byte level rather than just the CLI.
Highlights
- Branching, merging, and committing implemented from scratch
- Cryptographic hashing for absolute data integrity
- No external VCS libraries - pure C++ implementation
